
Kindergarten and First Grade Group Lessons: Goal: To inspire a young student's love of music by exploring beginning piano techniques at a relaxed pace. Class Objectives: To begin building a solid musical foundation for the younger beginner by teaching pianistic technique, rhythm recognition, beginning note reading and playing songs. Activities: 1. Solo piano pieces (each student heard individually each week) 2. Finger exercises to establish proper hand position. 3. Clapping and counting rhythms. 4. Musical games to teach and reinforce musical concepts. 5. Beginning note reading. 6. Recital in May at the Lawrence Arts Center. Class Information: 1. Class size 6-8 students. A. Classes taught by Eric and assistant teachers. B. Student teacher ratio 3-1. 2. Class meets once a week for 30 minutes. 3. Class times are offered after school. Daytime lessons in summer. 4. Class cost $39.00 per month (billed monthly). 5. Grades: Kindergarten and 1st. Group Piano Lessons: Goal: To allow a student to develop musical skills at their own pace in a fun and structured atmosphere. Group lessons allow students to share and learn from each other, developing confidence through peer support. Class Objectives: To create a solid musical foundation by teaching the piano skills of note reading, technique, rhythm, phrasing, dynamics and creating melodies through the use of solo piano pieces, unison and ensemble playing, Blue’s improvisation, musical games and duets. Activities: 1. Solo piano pieces (each student heard individually by a teacher each week) 2. Finger exercises to establish proper hand position. 3. Clapping and counting rhythms. 4. Finding notes from a staff on the piano. 5. Improvisation: using the Blue’s scale and chords to create melodies. 6. Musical games to teach and reinforce musical concepts. 7. Recitals both in the studio and at the Lawrence Arts Center. Class Information: 1. Class size 8-10 students. A. Classes taught by Eric and assistant teachers. B. Student teacher ratio 3-1. 2. Class meets once a week for 60-minutes. 3. Class times are offered after school. Daytime lessons in summer. 4. Class cost $63.00 per month (billed monthly). 5. Grades: 1st - 10th grade. Private Lessons: Goal: To provide students with quality instruction in a supportive atmosphere. We believe students are inspired in their study of piano by playing pieces in many styles, including Classical, Jazz and Pop. Activities: 1. Technical exercises that teach proper hand position and relaxation to facilitate fluid playing. 2. Clapping and counting rhythms. 3. Finding notes from a staff on the piano. 4. Playing a wide variety of pieces including Classical, Popular and Jazz. 5. Recitals at the Lawrence Arts Center Lesson Information: 1. Lesson meets once a week for 30 minutes. 2. Lessons times are offered both after school and during the day. 3. Lesson cost $70.00-85.00 per month (billed monthly). 4. Recitals at the Lawrence Arts Center in December and May. 5.
